HOW TO REGISTER FOR
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
What’s changing and why?
To improve the security of employee email accounts when accessed from outside a Bistec network, we are rolling out two-factor authentication across our business.
You will have likely encountered this type of security when using online banking, or online services such as an online Mobile app.
This is an important IT security measure which will protect not only our organization but also your personal information.
Compromising user accounts is the number one method cybercriminals use to gain access to any computer system.
Introducing two-factor authentication will help us prevent this type of attack, because any time you try to log in from outside our office network – you’ll be required to validate that login with a unique identier from your mobile phone via a text message.
Ready? Here’s how you register ...
When we switched on 2FA for your account, you’ll be prompted to log in with your usual login (email) and password:
You’ll then receive a message that your admin has required that you set up your account for additional security verication. Click ‘Next’ to continue.
You’ll then be asked to select your preferred verication method:
Please select the Text Message Method.
STEP 1: Select your country and enter your mobile number. You’ll receive a text message with a security code sent to the mobile number
you entered.
STEP 2: Enter the code on the next screen.
You’re all setup!
Each time you log in from outside our network, you’ll be asked to enter a unique verication code which will be sent in a text message to the mobile phone number you nominated here.
Note: If you receive an SMS with a unique identier when you haven’t tried to login – please contact the IT Service Desk to report a potential security risk.
If you have any issues or questions, please contact the IT Services Team on 077 3450 710.
